Energy is a concept in physics which is sometimes described as the ability to do work, although energy can take many other forms as well. The SI unit for energy is the Joule, although in quantum mechanics the electronvolt, equal to the energy of the fundamental charge at a potential of one volt (1.6×10−19 Joules), is more commonly used.
